Little Vumbura Camp | Description

Little Vumbura is a comfortable camp in northern Okavango that overlooks floodplains and waterways. The six tented rooms have en-suite bathrooms, private decks and plenty of space. The main lodge comprises a casual timber and thatch living area and an open deck built into and around the dense canopy of trees. Morris chairs, sofas covered with scatter cushions and a sparkling pool help in the relax-and-unwind department.

With permanent water and a vast expanse of dry land, the lodge offers the full range of wildlife activities. Take to the water in the silence of a traditional mokoro or nippy delta boat for some spectacular scenery, bird watching and game viewing. On land your ranger will navigate the marshy floodplains in an open game-viewing vehicle. Walking safaris and bird watching provide a serene and intimate encounter with the fascinating African bush.

Little Vumbura: remote camp surrounded by water and floodplains

The Kwedi Reserve is owned by the community and operated by Wilderness Safaris; it covers 100,000 hectares in the north of the Okavango Delta. Adjacent to the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, the camp features permanent waterways and endless game-rich floodplains. Wildlife in the area is prolific and with a combination of riverine and savannah woodland habitats the diversity is exceptional: red lechwe, waterbuck, kudu, wildebeest, tsessebe, hippos and crocodiles; the rare and noble sable is common here as are large herds of elephant and buffalo. The reserve is also home to lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena. Bird watching combines the best of both worlds with the Okavango specials and acacia and dry woodland species.
