Abu Camp Information

Abu Camp is situated in a 160,000 hectare private concession on the western side of the Okavango Delta. Six luxurious tents overlook a swampy lagoon where the elephants squelch and the birds twitter all day long. The suites are built on raised platforms and have en suite bathrooms with a separate shower, private verandahs, luxurious mahogany four-posters or sleigh beds and hints of Victorian antiquity.

Raised walkways connect the rooms to the main lodge, which is tucked under a broad canopy of ancient ebony and fig trees. The split level teak deck winds around the riverine forest and the living areas have sumptuous lagoon-facing sofas. The camp is surrounded by lagoons, channels and open grassland and the scenery, setting and abundant and varied species of wildlife offer a spell-binding African safari.

Lodge Highlights

  • Small lodge in a big concession with great game
  • Overlooking lagoon & surrounded by open grassland
  • Six luxurious tented rooms with private verandahs
  • Elevated tents, walkways and luxury living area
  • Abundant wildlife and a superb wilderness encounter

Exceptional Wilderness Experience

Go on game drives in open vehicles, night drives, walking safaris and water safaris in traditional mokoro. The highlight will be your interaction with the resident elephant herd: elephant-back safaris offer a fascinating experience and a chance to see life from their perspective. The delta is famous for its spectacular birdwatching. Wildlife is diverse and abundant in the area including giraffe, zebra, elephant, impala, tsessebe, lechwe, wildebeest, buffalo and warthog. Lion stalk the plains and the resident pride take delight in scaring the guests in the middle of the night with their rasping grunts and spine-chilling roars – hippos seem to find this quite funny.
