Namibia has a wide variety of hotels to choose from. Here are a selection of our personal favourites and what we think makes Namibian hotels particularly special and noteworthy.
- Burning Shore made famous by Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie
- Heintzberg Hotel in Windhoek is the only Relais Chateaux Hotel in Namibia
- Olive Grove Boutique Hotel in Windhoek is a small welcoming retreat
- Hansa Hotel in Swakopmund dates back to 1905 and the german colonist period.
- Architecturally The Stiltz is the most creative and interesting of the Swakopmund Hotels
- Treat your self to relaxing spa treatments at Goche Ganas Spa just outside Windhoek
- Enjoy simple pleasures and great hospitality at Villa Verdi in Windhoek.
Namibian Hotels are all regulated by strict government guidelines and you can therefore be assured of standards and service that are equivalent to those of hotels anywhere in the world. There are hotels at all standards from ultra luxurious boutique hotels in Windhoek to small family run bed and breakfast establishment in the seaside resort of Swakopmund. Each of which has their own charm and character. Speak to your Rhino Africa consultant about what kind of hotel you enjoy and they will be able to make suitable recommendations to you . Here are some of our personal favourites.

At Rhino Africa, when it comes to recommending great
Namibian Hotels it comes down to so much more than ticking a list of government generated requirements for accessing a one, two, three, four or five star hotel.
So here it is, this is what we think makes a great
Namibian Hotel…
Rooms
We believe that the rooms should either definitely be airconditioned or at the very least have an overhead fan, we look for places where you can open the windows and let the breeze blow through. Comfortable beds are absolutely essential, we look for 100% cotton sheets, duvets, extra blankets during winter. We love big bathrooms, separate showers and large baths. We don’t believe that you’ll be spending your time watching television so things like Flat Screen TVs don’t particularly impress us, however great views and balconies do.
Breakfast
We like our food at
Rhino Africa and believe that a great breakfast can set you up for the rest of the day. To us a great hotel must offer a great Namibian breakfast. We like to see a fresh buffet with a choice of pastries, German Cold Meats and Cheeses, Fresh Fruits, Freshly Squeezed Juices, Homemade Pastries and Preserves. Tuck into a plated hot breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and tomatoes !
Hosts and Staff
At Rhino Africa we strongly believe that a hotel is very much about its people. We expect great hotels to have warm friendly staff, who go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and at home. We hope the hosts will be able be able to help you plan extra things to do in the area, and add depth to your stay with local knowledge and experience. We feel that you should leave a good hotel feeling that you are leaving friends behind, rather than just somewhere that you went to sleep.
Location
To us location is everything. There are great hotels all around the world, and we do not expect hotels in
Namibia to compete with these hotels on every level. Namibian hotels should celebrate the fact that they are Namibian, hoteliers should celebrate the sunsets, the deserts, the rockpaints, the wildlife, the ocean and all the facets that make the hotels so uniquely Namibian.
