About The Kalahari Sands Hotel and CasinoKnown locally as the Sands, it was at the Kalahari Sands and Casino that England's Queen Elizabeth and Price Philip stayed in 1990 the year Namibia gained independence. The central location of this elegant luxury hotel - regarded by some as Windhoek's best - is ideal for exploring the city on foot or shopping. Guest rooms are pleasant if somewhat a little "international" and the accommodation does mean that unless you take the time to explore Windhoek and get out the hotel, you are in danger of being anyway in the world. However that said, most of the rooms have great views of the city, and the hotel is slap bang in the middle of Windhoek, making it easy to get out and explore.
