Okonjima Villa

Luxurious Okonjima Villa in Waterberg Region

The AfriCat foundation, made famous by various documentaries including that one by National Geographic, has been superseded by the luxurious Okonjima suite of lodges on the same game farm. The Hanssen's transformed their family farmhouse into the now humbled Okonjima Main and Bush Camp followed suit and raised the luxury and privacy stakes somewhat.

All was well in the pecking order until Okonjima Villa put the cat amongst the pigeons. With two enormous suites in the main house and flanked by another two, the luxurious villa is reserved for the exclusive use of its fortunate occupants. The pigeons had barely smoothed their ruffled pride when along came Okonjima Bush Suite, a family-friendly private annexe to the villa. Both villa and suite have private butlers, personal chefs, and a dedicated game ranger and safari vehicle.

The AfriCat Foundation provides a fantastic and rare opportunity to learn about cheetah and leopard in their natural environment from close quarters. The cheetah, in preparation for being re-introduced to the wild, chase down their food on high-speed zip lines giving you an extremely rare show of the fastest land mammal in full flight. Exhilarating stuff. Track leopards and cheetah on foot, follow the Bushman trail, and game viewing and birdwatching on the 170sq km reserve.

Little Ongava Camp

With a maximum of six guests Little Ongava is indeed small. There's nothing small about the scale of luxury or the footprint of the chalets, however; and the lodge overlooks a waterhole in a private reserve that shares its northern border with Etosha National Park.

Villa Mushara

You may be reluctant to leave your day bed beside your pool at Villa Mushara, but we recommend you take one or two game drives into Etosha National Park, about ten minutes away, with your personal game ranger.
