Hansa Hotel in Swakopmund

Situated in the town centre of Swakopmund, the elegance starts at the entrance where the hallmarks of a classic hotel are everywhere: marble flooring, dark wood and deep carpets.  Hansa Hotel has 58 rooms on three floors in a building dating back to 1905 and the start of the German revivalist period in Namibia. Like the rest of the hotel, the hotels rooms have a luxurious weight about them and though compact offer every comfort you could ask of the oldest hotel in the world's oldest desert.

The Hansa Hotels terrace is a foliage courtyard ideal for a light lunch or mid-morning snack. Breakfast and dinners are served in the restaurant, which has an award-winning wine list and specialises in game meat and seafood. The lounge bar has a cosy fireplace and is a convivial start and end to any evening.

Lodge Highlights

  • The Hansa Hotel is arguably one of most luxurious of the Swakopmund Hotels
  • Comfortable rooms
  • Excellent restaurant and a cosy lounge bar
  • Professional and charming staff
  • Garden courtyard

Hansa Hotel: wining and dining

The Hansa Hotel is often in the running as one of the Best Hotels in Namibia and it is thanks largely to its kitchen that serves both the terrace and the restaurant with creative versions of local delicacies. Try the cream of calabash soup or the Kalahari truffle and kudu carpaccio to start; follow it with a springbok loin in a parmesan-herb batter or the kingklip with spicy apricot sauce on sautéed apples and pears. Deserts are various Italian-influenced combinations of berries, glazes and rich home made creams. The wine list is long and impressive with some of the best South African wines and vintages available.
