Sossusvlei is arguably the most popular destination in Namibia and choosing the correct accommodation and lodge is critical to the success of your holiday.
There are a wide variety of places to stay in Sossusvlei Namib Naukluft Park Area. Some of them are close to the Sossuvlei and Sesreim Canyon Area, whilst others are slightly further away.
One of the advantages of being close to the Sesreim Canyon Gate is that this is the only 'public' gate into the park and all traffic into Sossusvlei must pass through this gate to get into Sossusvlei and the Dunes. The disadvantage is that the accommodation in this area tends to be simplier and more cost effective and this area is the 'camping site' locations and therefore its in this area that you are going to find large Overland Trucks and 4WD Camper Vans. Accommodation in this area includes
Sossusvlei Lodge.
The Wilderness Safaris Lodges have a very distinct advantage over other properties in the area, in that they have a private entrance into the Park and therefore do not have to travel so far to get to the sights. The Wilderness Safaris Lodges include :
Kulala Desert Lodge,
Kulula Wilderness Camp,
Little Kulala Camp and
Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp. These are some of the premier properties in the Sossusvlei area.
One of our personal favourites is
Desert Homestead, this is situated south of Sesreim and its location is spectacular.
Slightly further afield you will find
Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge and
Wolwedans Dune Lodge. These two lodges are reknowned for their for spectacular settings, beautiful accommodation and excellent service.
