Information about Onguma Tented LodgeBuilt on the success of Onguma Bush Camp, Onguma Tented Camp is an elegant, comfortable and exclusive lodge that shares in the 20,000 hectares of private wilderness adjacent to the spectacular Etosha National Park. Where Bush Camp bulges with a homely warmth, Tented Camp is almost stark with elegance and understated style. Seven huge tented suites surround a waterhole and the décor references the harsh, sun-baked colours and textures of the surrounding bush. The suites are all done in rough-cut stone, exposed wood and soft fabrics and each has a luxurious en suite bathroom with twin vanities and two showers – one of them is outside. The living area is dominated by the waterhole over which it presides. A pool, surrounded by wooden decking, leads into the cool open-sided interior which houses a comfortable lounge and dining area. Onguma Tented Camp is an elegant and stylish safari lodge at odds with the scrubby African bush that envelops it. The seven enormous tented suites fan out around a waterhole and the colours inside are an austere reflection of the natural surrounds: charcoal black, storm-cloud grey, fern green, linen white, natural stone... And they are comfortable with cotton draping, indoor and outdoor showers, separate toilets, twin stone basins and a private sitting area and verandah. The main lodge has a pool and deck overlooking the waterhole. The lounge and dining area – done in the same style and with equal measure of elegance - is beneath stretched canvas with open sides barely keeping the encroaching bush at bay. The lodge is inside an excellent private reserve that shares its western boundary with Etosha National Park. Four of the fabled big five, lion, leopard, rhino and elephant, roam the land and there are many species of plains game and birds to be seen on your daily game drives. The eastern gate into Etosha is also close by so you can add an extra game viewing dimension to your luxury safari. |
