Onguma Bush Lodge Description

Accommodation inside Etosha National Park is limited to three state-run rest camps. Basic at best and thoroughly lacking in charm or character, they are popular only for their unique situation. Onguma Bush Lodge, the family-oriented alternative to the exclusive Onguma Tented Camp, is full of character, oozing charm, and is in its own conservancy close to the eastern gate of Etosha.

Onguma Bush Lodge has just six chalets, built of stone and thatch, set a reassuring distance from each other and appointed with subtle style and obvious comfort. The living area, which features a swimming pool, open-sided thatch-roofed dining area and lounge, is surrounded by a lush lawn and looks out over the private reserve towards the setting sun.

Onguma Bush Lodge: your classic African safari

Onguma Private Nature Reserve covers 20,000 ha on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park. Game viewing and birdwatching are excellent with about 30 species of plains game on the alert for the resident lion, cheetah and leopard populations. Black rhino have been introduced and there are more than 300 bird species on record. And then, on your doorsteop, you have Etosha National Park: a unique game reserve packed with inumerable species of plains game, birds and reptiles.
