iGowati Lodge Description

Although iGowati Lodge is little more than a relaxing and convenient stopover en route to Etosha National Park and Kaokoland, there are enough things to see and do in the area to make it a good base for exploring Damaraland.

iGowati – meaning desert dunes – is situated in Khorixas, which, despite being a blink-and-miss town, is the administrative centre for the whole Damaraland region. The lodge has 29 en suite rooms with ceiling fans and complimentary tea and coffee.The main lodge has a swimming pool, a bar, and an à la carte restaurant that turns to a buffet menu for large groups. Most nights see the traditional dancers performing and captivating folklore by a local historian.

iGowati Lodge offers guided day excursions in air-conditioned 4WD vehicles to the many places of interest in Damaraland.Visit Twyfelfontein, Burnt Mountain, the Petrified Forest, Organ Pipes, Vingerklip, Himba villages, Brandberg, and a special donkey cart ride through the village to a shebeen.
