Most people come to Mozambique to catch a tan on palm-fringed beaches, wallow in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and sip a Pina Colada as the sun sets in spectacular fashion. But there are also an array of tours and activities out there. The unspoilt waters offer some of the world's best snorkelling and scuba-diving. Both the
Bazaruto and
Quirimbas Archipelagos provide white sand beaches and colourful coral reefs for underwater adventure!
Many of these trips involve a 'dhow' - the traditional sailing boat introduced by the Arabs - and it is like taking a step back in time as your skipper tacks the boat across the sea. There are wildlife reserves in Mozambique, such as
Gorongosa, but much of the wildlife was tragically destroyed during the Civil War, so a safari in South Africa remains a better bet although a
Mozambique safari is becoming a more and more viable option.
NB: You can do a tour in Mozambique alone or combine your time here with a Safari in the
Kruger National Park or
East Africa. We are experts at planning itineraries so contact us to plan your holiday!
