Hammocks sway gently in the breeze as waves wash up on soft white sand before you. This is what staying in the Quirimbas can be all about!
Before you choose your accommodation, you need to decide where to stay in the
Quirimbas Archipelago. There are over 30 islands off the coast of
Pemba so you really are spoilt for choice. These islands stretch for over 250km from Ilha Tecomaji in the north to Ilha Mefunvo in the south.
Ibo Island is a favourite among travellers with its historic buildings and picture perfect beaches.
It is also possible to stay in the
Medjumbe and
Matemo Islands - and these offer a unique getaway among pristine beaches while the
Lugenda Resort offers a Mozambican Safari experience - quite a novelty in this part of the world! The archipelago is situated just off the coast of
Pemba, so most visitors pass through this charming seaside town. It is worth staying a night but the islands are the real catch as they offer you a private piece of paradise. Of course it is possible to island hop and spend a few nights here and there - or you could stay on one and never leave your deckchair!
