The
Bazaruto Archipelago is renowned worldwide for its beautiful beaches, azure waters and secluded islands. The archipelago is home to the following islands: Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Santa Carolina (aka Paradise Island) and Bangue Island.
Bazaruto and
Benguerra are the two largest islands and the most developed so most travellers choose to stay there.
The archipelago is situated just off the coast of
Vilanculos, so most visitors pass through this charming seaside town. There are direct flights to Vilanculos from South Africa and there are a number of hotels and guesthouses in the town itself. It is worth staying a night but the islands are the real catch as they offer you a private piece of paradise. The archipelago is now a national park so the marine reserve is protected and offers great snorkelling and scuba diving.
