Kwazulu Natal is an incredibly diverse region with mountains, beaches, battlefields and bush. Most tours combine some time on the
North Coast with a world-class
Safari in the nearby game reserves of Phinda and Umfolozi Hluhluwe. The
St Lucia Wetlands, a World Heritage Site, are well worth visiting and guests can spot hippos, crocodiles and more on a sunset cruise down the estuary.
The Drakensberg is another World Heritage Site and with the highest mountains in Southern Africa, it is excellent for hiking and climbing. The
Midlands Meander is a superb drive through lush countryside between Durban and the Drakensberg and particularly popular with tourists. And there are the famous
Battlefields where the British, Boers and Zulus fought many years ago. as well as the colourful city of
Durban with its mixture of African, Indian and English culture.
Kwazulu Natal is an unbeatable self-drive destination and many travellers opt to drive from Durban via the North Coast, Battlefields and
Swaziland en route to the Kruger National Park or vice-versa. Swaziland is a delightful country and well worth exploring, as is the unspoilt Wild Coast which runs south of Durban towards East London.
