Kwa-Zulu Natal Coast, South Africa

Sun, sea and subtropical climate make Natal Coast and Durban a year round destination

The major draw card to the Natal Coastline is its subtropical climate and warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The beaches are popular with bathers, surfers and anglers. The Durban beachfront is somewhat marred by commercial development and if your looking for a beach get away we usually recommend heading for Umhlanga, Ballito & Salt Rock, these are a little further north and much quieter.

In Durban the most famous place to stay  is The Royal Hotel , the hotel has been looking after guests for 150 years and is home to some great restaurants. If you prefer a quieter and smaller hotel then consider Quarters Hotel in the Berea area of Durban. The hotel  has been completely refurbished and was originally 4 Victorian homes and now exudes a warm rarely found in city hotels. About 40 minutes north of Durban you will find Ballito which is often refered to as the Dolphin Coast. Here you will find the well known resort of Zimbali which has great golf courses and great place to go and unwind.  The waters of the Indian Ocean are warm year round but we strongly recommend swimming in designating areas as the waters do attract sharks.
