Phinda Rock Description

Phinda Rock Lodge is set into a cliff-face overlooking the beautiful Leopard Rock, this safari lodge is an absolute delight. Its six intimate suites are seemingly suspended over the deep valley below, providing breathtaking views. Each suite has its own private plunge pool and game viewing decks. The bathrooms are all ensuite and four of the suites feature outside showers. Rock lodge goes out of its way to make guests feel extremely special with its exceptionaly warm and friendly service.

Capture fiery sunsets from the game viewing deck suspended over South Africa’s bushveld, or relax in your private sitting room while observing an abundance of birdlife in the trees surrounding this safari lodge and animals in the valley below. Phinda Rock Lodge delicious Pan-African cuisine is served to you in the dining area under hand-wrought chandeliers, on the Lodge's exclusive deck or enjoyed in the privacy of your suite. Phinda is also renowned for excellent cuisine served in adventurous bush clearings under the African night sky.

Phinda Private Game Reserve is a flagship of conservation and community empowerment, and continues to provide a global benchmark for ecotourism. It was the winner of the Imvelo Responsible Tourism Award 2002 , British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow Award ( Southern Region Winner ) In 1991, Phinda undertook the biggest game relocation in a private reserve in the world at the time.

Phindahas ensured that 14 000 hectares (34 000 acres) of degraded farmland has been restored to pristine wilderness and has also initiated many successful community empowerment projects in the Mduku, Nibela and Mnqobokazi communities surrounding the Reserve. Guests are actively encouraged to visit these projects.

Phinda Private Game Reserve is located 3 hours drive north of Durban. The Lodge is easily accessible by road. Phinda has its own airstrip and charter flights connect the lodge to Durban & Richards Bay Airports, flights can also be arranged between Phinda and the private lodges in the Sabi Sands and Kruger Region.
