N'Kaya Lodge is a stately home in the Thornybush Private Game Reserve, insulated from the surrounding bush by a trim lawn and from the winter chill by deep thatch, thick walls and, in the living area, a massive indoor campfire. With just four suites, spread a good distance from each other and from the main loge, the tranquil time to yourselves will last as long as your stay. Each air conditioned chalet has an en suite bathroom with bath, shower and twin basins; a lounge and a private veranda.

The main lodge has a boma where you can dine beneath the stars by the light of an open fire and romantic hurricane lamps; a lounge with that fireplace on centre stage and a large round dining table for a cosier dining experience during inclement weather; a bar with open sides and a health spa.

N Kaya Lodge – big five-small five safari in a private reserve

N'Kaya Lodge is in the Thornybush Game Reserve, a private reserve near the Kruger Park stocked with the big five and more. Your daily safari activities include early morning game drives in search of the “big five” and other large plains game, mid-morning bush walks – where you might encounter the “small five” - and evening sundowner safaris that return by night when interesting nocturnal creatures become active. Dinner after your day's activities is a social occasion and one that, if you're not careful, may eat into your precious sleep time.

N'Kaya Lodge is in the north-eastern section of Thornybush Game Reserve, which has its own airfield for chartered flights and there are daily scheduled flights to nearby Hoedspruit. The drive from Joburg takes between five and six hours.
