Tangala Authentic Safari Camp Description

Tangala Safari Camp is one of the last remaining authentic wildlife experiences in South Africa. This owner run business has been part of a traditional South African family heritage for more than three generations. The camp is eco-friendly camp has no electricity, but a lot of soul. Our small and intimate 10 bed camp has been specifically designed to be ecofriendly and private. No noisy airconditioning, electric lights or televisions. Instead enjoy spacious rooms which are cool in summer and warm in winter.

Kerosene lanterns are used for light, and traditional donkey boilers for hot water. The rooms are finished with high quality white linen and mosquito nets, a sense of rustic luxury. The cuisine has been specially created to reflect the continent of Africa. Meals are social occasions and a time to share fascinating stories of the bush. A comprehensive wine list has been designed by wine connoisseurs from the Cape, and all dietary and culinary requirements are met by Tangala Safari Camp.

Tangala Safari Camp : Game Viewing

Situated in the wildlife cradle of South Africa, the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve offers 22,000 acres of Big 5 game viewing. Two daily game drives by an experienced ranger and tracker and daily bushwalks promise an unforgettable experience. The biodiversity of the reserve attracts a wide variety of wildlife including the Big 5 – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, white and black rhino as well as giraffe, plains antelope and a rich variety of birdlife. Wildlife activities here enable guests to 'touch, taste and smell' Africa.

Your day begins with a game drive of approximately four hours, accompanied by a qualified ranger and tracker. Guests not only get close to Big Game but also learn to identify birds and trees, taste edible fruit, follow in the footsteps of animals great and small and learn about local bush lore. Become one with the bush as you track silently after the spoor of wildlife during game drives. The night game viewing is an experience of its own. Nocturnal sightings might include bush babies, the elusive genet, or predators hunting and stalking their prey.
