Gomo Gomo General Information

Gomo Gomo forms part of the archetypal blueprint from which the modern boutique luxury safari lodge emerged. With back-to-basics comfort belying its precarious position, a hearty living area and a staff complement with a passion for the wilderness and its wildlife, you can expect nothing short of the classic luxury African safari at Gomo Gomo. Gomo Gomo lines the Nhlaralumi River beneath beautiful combretums in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger Park. Accommodation is in either an African-styled hut with brick, thatch and en suite bathrooms, or modern Meru-style tents with en suite bathrooms and private balconies on wooden platforms. The living area faces the river with a massive wooden deck, a large open-sided lounge and dining area, a pool, and two open-air dining bomas.

Game viewing is the point of its existence and Gomo Gomo thrives. Your personal ranger and Shangaan tracker take you on dawn patrols and evening parades through some of the best game viewing territory in the region. Lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, giraffe, zebra and many more plains species regularly make appearances and the birding is excellent with over 300 species recorded. Mid-morning interpretive bush walks introduce a detail impossible to fathom from the vantage point of your custom open safari vehicle and night drives, aided by a powerful spotlight, offer a rare glimpse of the duality of life in the African bush.

Gomo Gomo is part of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in the greater Kruger Park region; the reserve has an unfenced boundary with the Kruger Park and intersects many ancient migration paths. The lodge is easily accessible by air and by road – about five hours from Joburg.
