Chitwa Chitwa Game Lodge is in the Sabi Sands Wildtuin. The lodge overlooks one of the largest lakes in the reserve. The lodge is Chitwa Chitwa’s most exclusive camp and has been cleverly designed to bring the outside in. The magnificent bar and lounge area melt into the surrounding trees, which makes you almost invisible to the game gathering on the open plain. Food is a sensory delight, but at Chitwa Chitwa Game Lodge it doesn’t just tantalise the palate, eyes and nose. Here meals are as much a social feast as a culinary one. Savour the intriguing combination of African and Mediterranean dishes, accompanied by a select wines from the cellar.

Rangers and management socialise and chat freely to guests, talking about the events of the day. Lunch is served next to the pool in the thatched lapa, while dinner is relished in the open air boma, or in the elegant dining room. The most extravagant of the Chalets is Boulders the honeymoon suite, which provides a private patio and dip pool, separate dressing room and restful lounge area. Imagine a seamless blend of authentic African design with European elegance and you will conjure up the style and characteristic of Chitwa Chitwa Game Lodge. Hidden among the lush gardens each of the chalets exudes an air of romance and bygone adventure. Each of the luxury and standard chalets have views of the lake.

A highlight of stay at Chitwa Chitwa has to be the early morning game drives and early evening game drives. There are few who can resist the call of an African sunrise, or that of a magnificent fish eagle as it soars through a cloudless sky. But for the real African experience nothing compares to the exhilaration of a Game Drive through the bush in an open topped Land Rover, guides by a ranger and trackers whose passion for the area is infectious. Tracking the often beautiful, sometimes rare wildlife is exciting but never more so than when it is one of the Big 5. At Chitwa Chitwa Game Lodge they share the bush with Cheetah, Hyena, Wild Dog, Zebra, Wildebeest, Baboons and Antelope.

Chitwa Chitwa is located in the north of the Sabi Sands. The nearest airport is Hoedspruit, which receives daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town. From here you are transferred by light aircraft or road. The lodge is a 5 – 6hour drive from Johannesburg and makes a suitable self drive destination.
