Umhloti Lodge General Information

Umhloti Lodge is a five-star luxury lodge just outside the lowveld town of Nelspruit. The big attraction to Umhloti Lodge, despite its cathedral-sized thatched suites of the utmost luxury and refinement, is the Jane Goodall Institute Primate Haven. Dwelling on the lodge a moment, it has 13 of these massive suites, each with a double volume thatched roof, individual décor comprising Persian rugs, fabulous period pieces and no shortage of luxury, which runs into the sumptuous en suite bathrooms as well. Dining is an exciting candlelit occasion with set menus or à la carte options and the splendid view of the nature reserve in full regalia.

Back to the Chimpanzee Eden, as it's affectionately known, or the JGI Primate Haven, as it's officially known. Rescued and cared for like an only child, each chimpanzee or primate offers a window into another world. One not so dissimilar to ours and for it, every bit as fascinating. Walk through the forest with your guide and observe the big apes from an elevated deck that doubles as your feasting table, tea room and sundowner spot.
