Summerfields Lodge and Spa InformationA relaxing and picturesque retreat for the well-healed, Summerfields Lodge and Spa is a quick hour's flight from Jo'burg or a splendidly uneventful four-hour drive. Occupying 100ha of Sabie River Valley lowveld, and a goodly chunk of river frontage to boot, Summerfields provides a substantial buffer between yourself and the unnatural world. A few minutes from the Mpumalanga town of Hazyview and about 15km from the Kruger Park, there is an almost endless supply of things to do: from the rose-scented spa to whizzing across a gorge on a spindly piece of wire cable. Accommodation is in luxury Meru-style tents surrounded by a slatted wooden deck, complete with outdoor shower and a private view of the Sabie River. Inside is five-star detail from the air conditioning, bar fridge, freshly-baked cookies and complimentary sherry to the iPod with suitably demure playlists pre-programmed and the bath menu to order. The restaurant is a much-lauded feature and Lienke takes great care and pride in her home-grown goodness that makes staying at Summerfields a luxurious, dare we say it, home-from-home hands-down winner. |
