Jock Safari Lodge is a favourite lodge which incorporates the romance and elegance of the past colonial era, and reflects in its unique style the indigenous Zulu and Shangaan cultures. Jock Safari Lodge was the first private lodge to be granted a concession in the Kruger National Park . Twelve luxury air conditioned suites, each with their own private sala overlook the river as do the romantic bathrooms and outdoor showers.  Sightings of animals including the Big Five can be seen while relaxing around the rock pool or from the comfort and privacy of your own room.

At Jock Safari Lodge they create African cuisine which incorporates an abundance of flavours accumulated on the routes followed by sir Percy Fitzpatrick. The head chef of Jock and her passionate team conjure up dishes of legendary proportions, allowing your taste buds to follow their own African journey. The cuisine is presented in a variety of locations. From Silver service in the elegant dining room, to an eating adventure under the panorama of the African night.

Jock Safari Lodge : A Typical Day on Safari

At 05h00 you are woken by knocking on the doors (only if one wishes of course !)  Walk through to lounge area and enjoy morning tea and muffins with your ranger. Your ranger will try and encourage you and the other guests to be ready to leave by 05h45 to catch the sunrise and animal viewing. By the time you return from the morning game drive all the morning staff are at camp, where there breakfast is ready from 08h30 – 09h00.  After breakfast enjoy a walk depending on your personal fitness levels it is normally ± 1 to 1½ hours. The game rangers offer fauna and flora lectures and magnificent rock art viewing. Each topic is discussed and guests are welcome to set the pace as they wish.

There is of course always the good possibility of game viewing on foot.
One returning to the lodge, one can relax in the suites or wallow in the pool before a scrumptious lunch. You don’t have to have a formal sit down lunch but you can order and enjoy in the privacy of your sala. The big game drive starts at 16h30, with coolbox sundowners and snacks. The ranger stops to watch the sun going down in Africa. You return back to Jock Safari Lodge at 20h30 – 21h00  where dinner is served at the boma near the wagons. The end of an exciting day on safari.
