Hippo Hollow Country Estate Description

Hippo Hollow Country Estate is perfectly situated alongside the Sabi River with the Drakensberg mountains to the west and the low-lying bushveld to the east.

The relaxing and refreshing estate offers 63 units in total. 18 Family chalets on the river and 19 twin bedded chalets situated in a sub tropical garden. Hippo Hollow’s chalets are semi-self catering with a kitchenette and a BBQ. Hippo Hollow also has 26 en-suite hotel rooms.

There is a full service restaurant and bar in a spectacular setting overlooking the Sabi River, offering country cuisine and a fine wine selection. The sight of Kingfishers and other beautiful water birds as well as hippos grazing on the lawns make dining a unique experience.

Hippo Hollow Country Estate: Scenic Adventure

There are two large central swimming pools on the Hippo Hollow estate which offer a welcome respite on hot Lowveld days! Arts and crafts lovers can enjoy the well-stocked curio shop on the premises that boasts a good selection of local art.

From Hippo Hollow, you can join an open vehicle safari to the nearby Kruger National Park during the day or in the evening, or you can explore the park in the comfort of your own vehicle. Within only half an hour drive you can witness the spectacular Panorama Route which includes Pilgrims Rest, Graskop, Bourkesluck Potholes, God's Window, and the Blyde River Canyon as well as the many fantastic waterfalls of the surrounding area.

The adrenalin seekers can enjoy a Helicopter Adventure that swoops over deep and mysterious gorges, lingers above roaring rivers and cascading waterfalls and view the fascinating and dramatic rock formations of the Blyde River Canyon. Other nearby activities that can be arranged by the friendly staff include a trip to Shangaan Cultural Village, white water rafting, quad biking, golf, kloofing, abseiling and horse riding to mention but a few.
