Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp is one of our favourite camps , Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp nestles below the Oloololo Escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, affording spectacular views of the Masai Mara’s game-filled plains. Kichwa Tembo has a total of 40 spacious canvas safari tents and offers magical views over the Masai Mara grasslands or the Sabaringo River.

The main thatched guest areas include a welcoming bar & sitting area, indoor and outdoor dining areas and a well-stocked gift shop featuring African art, artefacts and safari-wear. The swimming pool is perfect for laid-back game viewing whilst cooling off. Relax in the candlelit bar in the evening before enjoying delicious Pan-African cuisine served alfresco style outdoors or in the main dining area.

Witness the Great Migration!

Kichwa Tembo is located in the Masai Mara and is a fantastic place to stay if you are looking to see the migration. The migration is one of the worlds most spectacular wildlife events. Annually 2 million wildebeest and zebra migrate in a clockwise direction around the Masai Mara and Serengeti in search of fresh grass and water.

The most dramatic viewing occurs when the animals cross Rivers, they wait for many days and suddenly cross in a continuous stream. The banks of the river are steep and the animals struggle to climb out , therefore stampeding on top of each other, crocodiles lie in wait in the water, and vultures clean up afterwards. There are a lot of casualties in the river crossings.
