The Roberts family are part of the Masai Mara ecosystem. Willy and Sue played a large part in bringing the Maasai communities together to form the camp's conservation area on the edge of the Masai Mara Reserve; and Richard Roberts has converted his childhood home, on the edge of the park, into a charming safari camp in the annual flight path of millions of migratory wildebeest and zebra.
Accommodation at Richard's Camp is in six rustic safari tented rooms with en suite bathrooms, flush toilets and solar-heated showers. The décor is an eclectic collection of African artefacts, gnarled wood, wrought iron and colonial relics. The weather in this part of the world is mild most of the year, making al fresco dining beside a crackling campfire something of a daily occurrence.
Richard's Camp is all about the experience. Stay in simple, comfortable en suite tents with hot showers and solar-powered electricity. The game viewing experience, at the hands of your guide, will be sensational and the highlight of your East Africa safari.

Game viewing in Richard's Backyard
At the age of 3, Richard moved with his family to the Mara region. He has lived here ever since and the exceptional safari experience you get is the product of his intimate knowledge about this bounteous region. Activities include game drives – morning, evening, night or full day outings as you choose; guided walking safaris; bush dinners and sunset drives; and organised interaction with the Maasai community who – thanks to the Roberts' family - collectively own and manage the reserve.
