Lake Victoria is the world's largest tropical lake and most populated part of Kenya. So we have formulated a handy map to help you navigate this region and decide where to stay.
Lake Victoria is the world's largest tropical lake and spans three countries: Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. It is one of Africa's Great Lakes - along with Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika - and forms the western border of Kenya. It is the most densely populated region in the country and is home to the Luo people, who have eked out a living on the lake's shores for many years. They use dugout canoes and dhows (traditional Arab sailing boats) as their main form of transport across the lake and survive by fishing and farming.
