The photograph of an elephant with Kilimanjaro in the distance, may be a cliche in wildlife circles, but you will still want your own.
- Take your own picture perfect photograph
- Visit Observation Hill for a view to remember
- Hang out with large herds of unafraid elephants
- Swamps and lakes attract abundant bird and animal life
- Buffalo, zebra, giraffe, gazelle and other plains game
Although it may look close in all those iconic photographs, Mount Kilimanjaro is actually 48km away in neighbouring Tanzania. Of course that means it's perfectly placed as the backdrop to many a famous photo. Won't that one with the elephants look great in your album back home?
Amboseli National Park is home to some thousand elephants and here, having never been bothered by poachers, they are some of the most bullish in Africa. On safari you will be able to get closer and more in touch with these great beasts than anywhere else in Kenya.
At Rhino Africa we can help you plan the perfect Kenyan safari with a stop in Amboseli National Park on your highlights!

Amboseli National Park is a very popular Kenya safari reserve because of the stunning view it displays of nearby Mount Kilimanjaro. Subterranean water draining from Kilimanjaro surfaces in the centre of the park, creating swamps that attract and support a rich diversity of wild animals and birdlife. Being one of the smaller game parks in Kenya and dominated by low scrub vegetation, the animals here are easy to spot. Lions can easily be found and you may be lucky enough to witness them stalking their prey.
Buffalo, zebra, giraffe, gazelle and other plains game are plentiful in the park and hippos live in the open waters and swamp channels. The elephants found here are surprisingly relaxed around safari vehicles; as they were largely unaffected by ivory poaching and have some of the largest tusks in the world!
