Schulphoek Guesthouse  is an intimate, state-of-the-art seaside lodge, but still the sort of place where guests socialise with each other, drinks are on an honesty system and meals are all eaten together. Located just outside Hermanus, and built on the beachfront, Schulphoek has uninterrupted views of the sea. The lounge area is an electric mix of old and new Africa, and almost gives you a feeling of being in a real seaside holiday home, some things not matching, some things just being practical ( like a bowl full of reading glasses ) and old books and magazines. The overall effect is crazy and comfortable, the kind of place where you’ll feel at home to put your feet on the furniture.

There are seven double rooms  all en-suite &  luxuriously fitted meeting with international standards.The bedrooms have immense charm and character, each individually decorated  with fine linens, offering privacy and exclusivity with subtle touches of luxury.  The bathrooms are unique with environmentally friendly soaps and shampoos, terrycloth gowns and slippers, and warmed bath sheets to wrap yourself up in total splendour.

Any chef who is prepared to work in a  glass fronted kitchen does in our opinion deserve a medal! Imagine everyone being able to scrutinise your every culinary move.  Schulphoek has just that – with the guests able to look into the kitchen and see what going on ! Schulphoek Guest House is well known for its delectable food. Guests are encouraged to join the chef in collecting clams, mussels, crayfish & linefish. Fresh seafood and venison are their speciality. Meals are served on a communal table, where guests are encouraged to interact with the hosts and each other. We highly recommend dinners at Schulphoek.Meals are complimented with wine from the 4,000 bottle cellar!
