Hunters Country House is owned and managed by the Hunter Family, who also run Tsala Country Lodge. Hunters Country House is an exclusive family owned retreat set in the magnificent Garden Route of the Western Cape. The spacious original homestead is surrounded by beautiful gardens and framed by the majestic mountains of Tsitsikamma. Hunters Country House was one of the first country house hotels in South Africa and was really at the forefront of setting the high standards of hospitality in Africa. Set in a 90-hectare estate, accommodation is in luxurious, antique furnished, thatched cottages, each with fireplace and private patio, nestling in beautiful gardens overlooking indigenous forest.

Hunters Country House consists of 23 rooms and suites, each individually decorated and designed for absolute comfort and privacy. Whilst the rooms and suites differ in design and standard, all rooms have separate showers and baths, tea & coffee facilties, mini bars, TVs and double basins. The romantic and beautifully appointed candlelit dining room is the setting to enjoy superb cuisine prepared by a team of well known chefs. A selection of estate and auction wines is recommended from the cellar. Service is discreet and unobtrusive.

Families and Children Friendly

Hunter’s Country House really goes out of its way and welcomes children of all ages. There is a private children’s recreation area with shallow swimming pool, a TV and video/games room, dining room, a change room, jungle gym and thatch-covered sandpit. Pumba's Garden is open and fully supervised from 07h30 daily through to 18h30. For families travelling together we think this is wonderful so you can feel free to leave your children to play in their capable care while you sightsee or relax by the pool.
