River Bend Lodge is situated in a malaria free area in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa just an hour’s drive from the coastal town of Port Elizabeth. The region is famous for its warm hospitality and River Bend is no exception. The staff will ensure that you feel immediately at home and enjoy plentiful game activities guided by professional guides who’ll not only enlighten you in Africa’s splendid creatures, but also reveal the fascinating history of this revitalized wilderness.

River Bend is situated in the Addo Elephant Park and offers 8 individual suites, tastefully designed for tranquillity, relaxation and privacy. All the suites are air conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans, electronic safes, mini bars, satellite TV, hair dryer and bathroom en suite with bath and shower.

Explore the beautiful mountainous surrounds, forests and savannah lands or enjoy some pampering with a relaxing massage in the privacy of your room and finish off the day by sipping a cocktail on your private veranda as the sun sets below the endless horizon.

River Bend: A Personal Safari Experience

River Bend Lodge offers a personal experience and welcomes children of all ages. Children are well catered for and the playroom, child-friendly bush walks with rangers and biscuit baking will ensure that they have many exciting adventures.

River Bend has a focus on conservation and is dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of Africa’s natural wonders. Guests can take a guided tour to their rehabilitation projects in the River Bend Private Intsomi Reserve where you can learn about how the wildlife are cared for and get great sightings of these rare and endangered species. The rangers also have an excellent understanding of astronomy and offer interesting talks on night drives. Special astronomy packages can be arranged on request.

Besides the majestic elephants for which the region is well-known, guests will also have the opportunity of seeing the other Big Five animals amidst breathtaking scenery and with the magnificent backdrop of the Zuurberg Mountain range.
