Enormous beds are dwarfed by the room while fine antiques and original paintings, assisted by bright country colours and generous furniture, produce a relaxing air of country elegance. Bathrooms are living spaces in their own right with day beds, plunge baths, walk-in showers, heated towel rails, underfloor heating and a suitcase of toiletries. Little extras like mini-bars, satellite TV and private plunge pools – in 8 of the 12 rooms - make that personal luxury all the more obvious.

Children are welcomed and discreetly tucked away in purpose built loft additions to the main rooms – complete with miniature bath robes and dolls’ house furniture; dedicated nannies distract them all day with a treasure chest of activities allowing the grown-ups to be boring and do grown up things. Like visit the spa for a beauty treatment and massage or for some exercise in the gym followed by a relaxing sauna, steam bath or dip in the plunge pool.
