Jongomero

Jongomero is the only safari camp in the remote southwestern corner of Ruaha National Park, offering unmatched privacy and exclusive safari accommodation in pristine African wilderness surrounds Jongomero’s eight safari tents are raised on wooden platforms featuring large private decks overlooking the seasonal Jongomero River. Each tented suite features a thatched roof, dhow wood Emperor bed and an en suite bathroom with twin hand basins, spacious shower and w.c.

Jongomero’s guest areas are soaring thatched structures furnished in cool, neutral tones with beautiful views of the African wilderness. The spacious sitting, dining and bar areas are shaded by ancient riverine trees. The camp features a contoured swimming pool for cooling off in the heat of the day. Guests may enjoy delicious Pan-African cuisine served in the dining area or on the riverbank while viewing birds and game.

Jongomero: Game Viewing

Ruaha National Park is only marginally smaller than the Serengeti National Park, covering an area of about 13 000 square kilometres (5 021 square miles) between the Great Ruaha and Njombe Rivers Experience thrilling game-drives and excellent birding in the diverse Ruaha National Park included in the rate. Lying in a convergence zone where mammal species of East and Southern Africa meet, Ruaha National Park has a large population of elephant and buffalo.

One can see both greater and lesser kudu, spotted and striped hyena, sable and roan antelope, zebra, Grant’s gazelle and wild dog. It is also noted for its high density of lions and baobab-climbing leopards. Lichtenstein’s hartebeest favour open miombo woodland and a large population of hippo is found in the Great Ruaha River.During the dry months animals congregate around the river
