Chobe Marina

Chobe Marina | Information

Chobe Marina Lodge is located in the North-Eastern corner of Botswana where the four African nations of Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia converge. Kasane is a bustling little town offering access to the Chobe National Park. As there are no boundary fences between the park and the village, game such as elephant and hippo can frequently be seen wandering down the road. Chobe Marina Lodge is surrounded by the natural beauty of Africa.

The Chobe River, Chobe National Park, Kasane Forest Reserve, the Caprivi Strip and the mighty Zambezi River, each offer their own attractions and with Victoria Falls but 70 kilometres away. Two restaurants and wonderful wooden decks over the river make this hotel truly world-class. Accommodation is provided in thatched studios, apartments, chalets and suites, with private lounges and modern comforts such as air conditioning, ceiling fans, satellite TV, telephones and mini bars.

Chobe Marina Lodge | Game viewing

The Chobe National Park covers 11,000 sq km and has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent. It also contains the highest concentration of elephants in the world, with an estimated winter population of around 25 000. That's more than two per square kilometre. Large areas of the park are covered by mixed woodland, which is interspersed with extensive areas of grassland. The wildlife viewing is renowned, and makes this area a prime tourist destination.

The annual zebra migration is a special feature of the area, but the visitor may see a wide range of antelope including sable, roan, oribi, reedbuck, and the strikingly colourful Chobe bushbuck which has much stronger white markings than those found further south. Small herds of lechwe can be found on the grassy floodplains, and this is the only area south of the Zambezi River where puku can be seen. Giraffe and warthog are common, and lion occur throughout the area. Bird watching is very rewarding, there being over 350 species recorded in the area, and in the vicinity of the Chobe and Linyanti Rivers visitors can watch saddle-billed storks, long-toed plovers, pink-backed pelicans, African skimmers, Bradfield's hornbills and the jewel-like carmine bee-eaters.

Chobe Marina Lodge
Kasane
Botswana

Chobe Marina is situated in the bustling town of Kasane. This is on the border of Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia. The nearest airports are Victoria Falls Airport and Livingstone Airport which are a one and a half hour road transfer away. Scheduled flights do arrive into Kasane, but we find these flights are erratic and a bit unreliable.
