Stellenbosch Hotel General InformationThe Stellenbosch Hotel, on the dappled Dorp Street near the centre of town, is part hotel, part guesthouse, part coaching inn from days of old. Built between 1692 and 1701, the hotel was restored and declared a national monument in 1987. With its thatched roof, Dutch gables and oak-covered stoep, Stellenbosh Hotel is as much a feature of the Stellenbosch package as its vineyard-lined valleys, cultural and historical heritage, and the dramatic scenery at every twist in the road. Stellenbosch Hotel has 27 rooms. Some are small and quaint – this is a 200-year-old listed building after all – while others verging on opulent. All accommodation has extra-length beds, en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, mini bar, tea and coffee, TV and radio, personal safe, hair dryer and telephone. The hotel also has two-bed and studio apartments for self-catering convenience. The Jan Cats Restaurant has tables inside and out serving and serves local and international dishes including fresh seafood and exotic game meats. |
