Protea Hotel Dorpshuis is a Victorian Country House which is furnished with original antiques. It is the perfect base from which to explore the heart of the Cape Winelands . This luxury Stellenbosch hotel accommodation boast spacious and individually decorated accommodation with twin or double beds, a separate lounge offering extra comfort as well as an own private patio. Our standard rooms contain all the modern conveniences you would expect in a four star hotel. Uniquely furnished with antiques each room has its own distinct character and individual look.

Before starting the day guests are served a delicious wholesome South African Buffet breakfast. During the summer months breakfast is also served on the Vine-shaded patio. The classic, fully licensed Restaurant the "Oak-leaf" serves A la Carte Dinners House specialty dishes include traditional South African fare such as Cape Malay Bobotie, Chicken Pie, Steak and Curries, dishes that will delight the palates of the most discerning patrons. A sparkling pool in a tropical garden setting provides for welcome relief on a hot summers day .... just to laze around, sip a refreshing drink and to be totally at peace with the world.

Stellenbosch may be the most beautiful town in South Africa. It is small and sophisticated. The second oldest town after Cape Town – it actually feels old. Wandering the oak shaded streets, which still have irrigation furrows, you’ll see some of the finest examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian , Victorian and regenct architecture. The town was found in 1679 by Simon van der Stel, first governor of the Cape, who recognized the agricultural potential of this fertile valley. The town is also home to University of Stellenbosch, the countries first and prestigious Afrikaner University.
