    Vergelegen
Arguably the most famous of the wine estates in Somerset West is Vergelegen. Formerly the home of Willem Adriaan van der Stel ( Simon van der Stel’s son ) Vergelegen is today owned by Anglo American. It is one of the Cape’s leading wine estates and produces some excellent vintages.

    Beaches
Whilst Somerset West itself is not on the beach. The nearby towns of Gordan’s Bay and Strand have some lovely beaches, washed by the warmer waters of False Bay. During the Whale Season ( August – November ) the Southern Right Whales come close to the shore.

    Mountains
The Hottentots Holland Mountain Range is an impressive Mountain Range and forms the backdrop for most of Somerset West. Visit Disa Gorge where in Spring Time you will find a profusion of wild flowers decorating the slopes. Its here that you will also find a refreshing waterfall.
