Augusta Kleinbosch Country Lodge General Information

Back in 1792, when the original homestead was built, they had a lot more space than we do nowadays. Augusta Kleinbosch Country Lodge has nine enormous rooms in three restored buildings on the Kleinbosch Farm near Paarl in the Cape Winelands. White cotton and original wood dominate; terracotta tiles keep the country feeling in the absence of wooden floors. The accommodation is charming, each room has an en suite bathroom, private patio overlooking the garden, underfloor heating, bar fridge, and complimentary tea and coffee. Hint: in winter, ask for a room with an open fireplace.

The Augusta Kleinbosch Country Lodge has a charming restaurant, with terracotta floor, wooden beams and a fireplace, that offers a small menu with interesting choices like ostrich carpaccio, salmon phyllo, and a Maharani turkey curry. On warm days, the restaurant spills out under the willows. Shaded by mango trees and plied with drinks and snacks from the gazebo, a day by the swimming pool will be hard to pass up. But you must for there is much to see and do on the farm and in the surrounding winelands area of Paarl.

Augusta Kleinbosch Country Lodge is a charming country retreat where everything comes in large country-style portions: large beds, enormous rooms, plenty of food, wine and a view that is larger than any postcard could depict. Looking up towards the Drakenstein Mountains – with tremendous granite peaks and fynbos-filled crags – the view over the vineyards and orchards is idyllic. Walk, pedal, motor or gallop around the working farm or venture out to discover the historic town of Paarl, its nature reserves and many excellent restaurants and wine farms.
