Roughly half the wineries in Franschhoek have restaurants attached to them. The wine makers in Franschhoek have understood the synergy between food and wine better than any other region.
The association of Vignerons de Franschhoek has been established to promote Franschhoeks wines and wineries. Many of the farms were developed by the French Hugenots who moved to this pretty valley, and today a majority of the wine estates bear names that are testament to this. Franschhoek Valley is arguably the prettiest of the Wine Routes in South Africa and nothing beats heading up the mountain overlooking the valley and admiring the view.

There are many wonderful wineries to visit in Franschhoek and its environs.
