Parkes at Franschhoek is a private villa fully furnished for a luxury self-catering holiday in the winelands. A typical Huegenot building with a wide verandah, wooden shutters, transom windows, wooden floors, high ceilings and ancient oaks above a flat roof. Décor throughout the house is a subtle range of creamy white with prominent splashes of ruby red. The result is restrained elegance with a hint of wicked strawberries-and-cream decadence.

Sleeping up to six people, Parkes at Franschhoek has three bedrooms and three bathrooms - two are en suite, the third is a guest bathroom. The house has a large lounge, with fireplace and home entertainment centre; a fully-equipped kitchen and a dining area; a swimming pool and private garden with a barbecue; and a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a dishwasher.

From Parkes at Franschhoek it is a safe and easy walk to the village centre where the abundance of award-winning restaurants, boutique cafés, galleries and shops is quite astounding for such a small place. And with the freedom to come and go as you please, how you spend the day is going to be a difficult decision: do you barbecue at home relaxing in the private garden, dipping into the pool every now and then; or do you hop on a bicycle and go for a wine tasting picnic?
