The Mountains around Cape Town offer the adventure enthusiasts many options including Abseiling, Rock Climbing and Kloofing.

The most popular adventure activity in Cape Town is Shark Cage Diving. This takes place in Gansbaai which is about 90 minutes drive from Cape Town.
An early morning pick up from your hotel in Cape Town, you will be transferred to Gansbaai in an airconditioned minibus. A delicious farm breakfast awaits you in Hermanus, as you sign the all important indemnity forms and are given a detailed briefing on safety and security briefing.
From the breakfast spot in Gansbaai you are driven down to the Harbour to board the Shark Cage Diving Boat. The boat is a double decker boat and comfortably takes about 40 passengers. Once everyone is aboard the adventure begins and the boat is sailed about 60 minutes out to sea towards Dyer Island and Shark Alley. Dyer Island has a huge breeding colony of Cape Fur Seals, almost like a Fast Food Take Away Restaurant the Great White Sharks sit and wait for sick and injured seals.
Once at Dyer Island the crew of the boat start the chumming process. Much controversy surrounds this process, but in recent years this has been monitored by the government and is less environmental harmful than it was. Great White Sharks have a great sense of smell and follow the ‘slick’ left by the chumming process and in this way are attracted to the boat. Depending on seasonality it can take a little while for the Sharks to arrive and whilst you wait the ‘victims’ are suited up in Wet Suits, so that the minute the Sharks arrive you can get in the cage to view the sharks.
The sea water is extremely cold and after the intial shock of entering the water you wait as the Great White Sharks come in front of the cage. Be sure to buy yourself an underwater Camera ( available at the meeting point ) so that you can record what you see. For those less adventurous you can view the Sharks from the comfort of the boat, the water is clear and visibility excellent.
Whilst on the boat you have the opportunity to see Whales and Dolphins as well as a myriad of seabirds.
Once everyone on the boat has been in the Cage, the boat returns to harbour. You are served a hearty lunch on your return to the meeting point, with an opportunity to purchase the video of your adventures.
