From the imposing glass-ribbed building rising out of the old suburb of Sea Point to the accidentally retro 70s décor, the Ritz Hotel in Cape Town is anything but the Ritz of afternoon teas and abracadabra porters. And nor should it be at that price. The 222 en suite double and twin rooms face sea or mountain and in some cases both. Rule of thumb: the higher you go the better the view. All are equipped with the essential comforts offered by any large hotel like air conditioning, satellite TV, tea/coffee, hair dryer and direct-dial telephone.

The Cape Town Ritz Hotel has an outdoor pool and sun deck from where the views of the ocean and mountain are stupendous; a day café will ply you with drinks and light meals all day – after you've feasted on the buffet breakfast of course - and the revolving restaurant atop the building is a must. The friendly and enthusiastic desk staff will do their multilingual best to help you plan and arrange your sightseeing and activities.
