Tucked behind the southern shadow of Table Mountain, staying in the leafy and exclusive suburbs of Kirstenbosch, Wynberg, Newlands and Claremont allows you to stay in elegant accommodation, with large gardens, and space to relax and unwind.
Having visited Kirstenbosch and Newlands, many second time visitors to Cape Town choose accommodation in this area. They’ve discovered that what makes this particular area ( locally referred to as The Southern Suburbs ) so enjoyable is the quietness, the relative locality to Cape Town its self, large gardens, gigantic oak trees and space. Accommodation ranges from the well known Vineyard Hotel ( once the home of Lady Anne Barnard ) to small boutique style hotels such as the Bishops Court.

Whether your staying in the Kirstenbosch and Newlands to simply escape the hustle and bustle of Cape Town, or coming to watch a cricket or rugby match there is sure to be accommodation to suit your requirements.
Arguably the most well known and established hotel in the area is
The Vineyard Hotel. Set amidst large gardens and shady oak trees, the hotel was originally the home of Lady Anne Barnard. Lady Anne Barnard was one of London’s most lauded hostess , before moving to the Cape in 1797. Her charm and natural diplomacy did much to win the locals over to the new regime, but her main gifts to posterity were the journals, diaries and sketches she made describing the people and life in the new colony.
Several of the large colonial houses have been converted into exclusive Guest Houses and Boutique Hotels. Some of our personal favourites include
Highlands and
Greenways Country House. Set in spectacular gardens and Highlands is one of the finest examples of Herbert Baker architecture in Cape Town.
Bishops Court and
Beaumont House are boutique hotels and offer the very finest in personalized service and hospitality.
