The Village Lodge General Information

Combining industrial Gothic with eastern Zen - polished black granite, gold Buddhas, miniature fountains, delicate white stones and bamboo shoots everywhere – The Village Lodge is a smart and sophisticated sleepover so perfectly in tune with its surroundings you'd think it was the conductor. While they are small - these are Cape Town’s oldest buildings and erstwhile slave quarters - the four standard rooms are comfortable, and the ten luxury options have better views, air conditioning and mini-bars.

Soho is a large restaurant that spills onto the terrace at the hotel’s entrance. In addition to the bacon and egg standards, you can get a way off-the-beaten-track breakfast here with the likes of Welsh rarebit, strawberries, bacon and rocket on toast and apple and honey pancakes on offer. After breakfast the menu dons its Thai with classic dishes and fresh combinations of lime, chilli lemongrass and plum sauce.

Climb the narrow spiral staircase and behold the rooftop pool and sundeck that offers up an uninterrupted view of Table Mountain and overlooks the patchwork of De Waterkant's rooftops, the shiny city centre, the derrick-strewn harbour and Table Bay beyond. The Village Lodge also has self-catering options in De Waterkant including a five-bedroom villa and 15 comfortable cottages sleeping from two to six. All have fully equipped kitchens, modern décor and are located within walking distance of De Waterkant's delightful cafés, restaurants, bars, and boutique shops.
