Peace and quiet like you've never had before
The Makgadikgadi Pans offer visitors an untouched and remote location deep in central Botswana, totally removed from the chaos and confusion of city life. Head out into the world's largest salt pan and be treated to great game viewing as animals of all creed and colour make their way to the water. We can also organise trips into the nearby Kalahari Desert, the haunt of the San Bushmen and other prehistoric peoples of Africa.
The Makgadikgadi area is a collection of different pans crisscrossing their way across the barren wilderness. The three most notable pans are Ntwetwe Pan (south of Gweta), Sowa Pan (southwest of Nata) and Nxai Pan (north of Gweta). In the dry season, the pans are an empty, almost apocalyptic collection of cracked mud but in the wet season they become an oasis and a haven for wildlife as animals flock to the watering holes.
There are a variety of lodges in the area to suit your every need and they all offer great game viewing activities to complement your African experience.
