A holiday in the desert plains of Botswana

Nxai Pan National Park in eastern Botswana lies just north of the Maun-Nata road and adjoins Makgadikgadi Pans National Park on its northern border. Nxai Pan is a 40-square-kilometre fossil lakebed within the park, and Kwando Nxai Pan can be found on its western edge.

Activities offered from the camp include daily game drives, day trips to the famous Baines’ Baobabs and Khama Khama Pan, stargazing, as well as nature walks with Bushman trackers. Once the rains come, the plains-game count goes up, accompanied by predators such as spotted hyena, cheetah, leopard and jackal. Even buffalo and elephant can be seen.

Nine purpose-built tents, including a family room, make up the camp. A lounge, dining room and viewing deck are great places to gather and share stories of the day’s adventures with fellow guests. The waterhole in front of the camp attracts a variety of wildlife and birdlife that can be viewed from the comfort of your own verandah. A swimming pool brings relief from the summer heat, and a library and curio shop offer ways to spend lazy afternoons.
