Meet Bongelwa Qandashe

Today’s Q&A features our travel consultant Bongelwa, also known as Bongi, who just loves the city of Cape Town. After studying abroad in the United Kingdom, she returned to South Africa to join the Tourism Industry. Find out more about her in our Meet The Team section.

1. What do you love most about your job? Being part of a company like Rhino Africa is such a blessing. We are passionate about Africa and we take great pride in putting together the best holidays for our clients. A trip to Africa is an experience of a lifetime for most and to be part of actually making that dream come true is the best feeling in the world – truly fulfilling!

2. What are your top 3 destinations you have visited in Africa? Garden Route, Cape Town and Kruger National Park.

3. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten on your travels? Mama’s Crocodile Kebabs at Mama Africa Restaurant. I was hesitant to try it at first but it tastes really good.

4. What is your most memorable safari moment? Seeing about 20 lions in one area at Singita Kruger was such a unique experience. The area has very large lion prides of up to 30, which is very unique to the area and due to the high carrying capacity of the reserve.

5. What is the one thing you have to take with you on every trip? I have 3 things that I never travel without… sunglasses, wide-brimmed hat and lip balm.

6. Where in the world do you still want to travel to? Serengeti for the MigrationSeychelles and Prague.

7. If you could go on a dream safari with anyone at all, who would it be and why? It would definitely be with my son, Bukho. Many lodges now encourage families to go on safari and there are many that even have special children’s clubs and activities available, which makes a safari with a young one an easier and a more pleasant experience.

8. What is your favourite (city/beach) hotel that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa? Kanonkop in Knysna

9. What is your favourite safari lodge that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa? Lion Sands in Sabi Sand is the best!

10.Where is your favourite place to eat in Cape Town? Aubergine Restaurant in Gardens

Bongi at Singita
