irresponsible Journalism

With headlines such as “World Cup Machete Blood Bath fuelled by Race War“, claims that South Africa is ripe for an earthquake and rumours of an outbreak of Rift Valley fever it’s a wonder that we will have any World Cup visitors. Mindless and irresponsible journalism that amounts to nothing short of an unfathomable smear campaign.

South Africa is an incredible country full of warmth, culture and breathtaking beauty – the World Cup offers a chance to show those that have never seen South Africa for themselves what a great nation this has become. So how about some positive publicity for once? How about some responsible journalism encouraging tourism to a country and to people that have so much to gain from foreign visitors and investment? Revenue that is crucial for community upliftment.

Instead of saying that there are still 10% of tickets left unsold, how about 90% of tickets have been sold, but there are still tickets available for what promises to be one of the greatest sporting events on the planet? South Africa is ahead of schedule with its infrastructure and has built some of the most spectacular stadiums in world football.

So don’t be put off by this crazy one-sided, head-line grabbing journalism. There are still flights and great offers available, so give us a call or drop us an e-mail at Rhino Africa and let us organise the trip of a lifetime for you – it’s really not too late.

irresponsible journalism

This is a fantastic country with an admittedly chequered past. The World Cup is not going to make or break South Africa, but it is certainly an opportunity to win over the hearts and minds of the world, to show just how far we have come in the last sixteen years and to create a new reputation.

Let’s show the world and the nay sayers in particular that although we face problems in South Africa, we have the attitude and the capabilities to overcome those problems and prosper. Let’s make foreign investors wonder why they didn’t get involved sooner. Let’s show everyone that our hotels and guest houses are not only some of the finest in the world, but are safe, that our streets are clean, our infrastructure reliable, our transport systems efficient and that we are no longer a developing nation – we have arrived.
