How Rhino Africa Rate Hotels and Lodges

 

With so many different ways of grading hotels its difficult to know what your getting and what to expect. Our Rhino Rating has been introduced to give you an 'on the ground' perspective of what to expect. We make a point of personally visiting and evaluating the establishments we have featured on the website.

 

 

We are very discerning with our Five Star Rhino Ratings and therefore only a few properties are given five Rhino's. When you stay at one of these these properties you can expect the very finest in accommodation, food, service and experience. Award winning and often featured within the pages of Conde Naste Traveller and Harpers and Queens, these properties are destinations within their own right and often require booking well in advance.

 

In most circumstances a Four Rhino Property is a five star hotel or lodge. Exceptionally well run and managed, these properties are oftenat times giving the five rhino properties a good run for their money and keeping everyone on their toes ! Expect luxurious accommodation, excellant hosts, and warm welcomes. At Rhino Africa we believe that experience is everything and at Four Rhino properties this is no exception.

Stay at a Three Rhino hotel or lodge and you expect great value for money. Comfortable and affordable these properties are amongst our most popular accommodation. With excellant locations throughout Africa, the rooms are nicely decorated and provide 'sensible' accommodations choices for tourists. Staying at a Three Rhino property is certainly no lesser an experience and some of our favourite hotels and lodges are graded as such.

We're quick to point out that simply because a hotel or lodge is rated Two Rhino, that is does not mean that it is a 2 star property ! Staying at one of these establishments you can expect simple accommodation and five star service ! Often located in remote areas, enabling you to experience Africa at its finest. Warm African welcomes, basic rooms, honest good home cooking and service.

If you have a sense of adventure then a One Rhino establishment is definately for you. Often assigned to simple tented accommodation and basic guesthouses, a One Rhino rating is the simplest form of accommodation that we feature. Many times the accommodation is the only establishments in the area, and staying at one of these properties is the only way of exploring the more remote parts of Africa.
